It was the end of an era last night at The Old Pharmacy in Bruton when a party was held to say goodbye to Ed "Big botty Boylan", the popular bistro and bar's front of house manager for the past three years. Oysters, lobster crostini's, deep fried chicken with caviar were all on offer to mark the occasion together with a tequila based Paloma cocktail. Most of Bruton's big gun names were out in force to wish Ed luck in his new career including Ed's pal and mentor Merlin Labron-Johnson, owner-chef of the Michelin starred Osip and the Old Pharmacy and restaurateur extraordinaire, the legendary Nick Smallwood whose restaurant credits include L'Escargot, The Hard Rock Cafe, Kensington Place and Launceston Place. Ed is leaving The Old Pharmacy to go independent as a chef and event organiser. We know he is in for a stellar future.
